NOTICE FROM THE TOTOWA BOROUGH WATER DEPARTMENT
The Totowa Borough Water Department will be upgrading water main valves on Riverview Drive between Union Blvd and Route 46 on Friday night, September 18th, from approx. 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Residents in the surrounding area may experience temporary water service disruptions, low pressure, or discolored water during work hours. If you experience discoloration, run your cold water tap for a few minutes until it runs clear once work is complete. Expect localized lane shifts, minor delays, and potential temporary detours. Please drive carefully around work crews.

Welcome to the Borough of Totowa
Hi and welcome to the Borough of Totowa’s official website. In order to become familiar with our community, I thought I would provide some information about our town and certain services available to you.
The Borough of Totowa was settled around 1750 and incorporated in 1898. It has an area of approximately 4 square miles with a population of approximately 10,800. The town is governed by a Mayor and six Council members.
I have served as Mayor for the last twenty-seven years. Since 1961, a span of 65 years, I am only the third Mayor to serve Totowa. Our Council members are elected to three year terms. We are proud of the fact that Totowa has the lowest tax rate in Passaic County for over 33 years. Our council meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month and all are welcome to attend. The meetings are held in the Council Room at the Municipal Complex located at 537 Totowa Road at the corner of Cherba Place.
The Complex also houses the Police Department, the Municipal Court, the Clerk’s office, the building department, the tax office, the tax assessor’s office, the Health Department and other administrative offices. The Public Library is adjacent to the Municipal Complex on Cherba Place.
The Department of Public Works is located at 136 Furler Street and the Sewer Department is located at 100 Riverview Drive. The Senior Citizen Coordinator is located at the Community Center at 385 Union Boulevard.
We are very fortunate to have people who volunteer their time and energy to our fire department and first aid squad. There are four fire houses located throughout the town and the first aid squad is on Totowa Road at Mitchell Avenue.
There are two public school buildings in Totowa; Washington Park School, located at 10 Crews Street, serves grades 4-8 and Memorial School, located at 294 Totowa Road, serves grades K-3. Passaic Valley Regional High School, located on East Main Street in Little Falls, serves grades 9-12 for the communities of Totowa, Little Falls and Woodland Park.
