Hi, this is Mayor John Coiro.
I want to alert you to two upcoming events.
The first event will affect travel on Union Boulevard. On Tuesday, December 13, similar to last year, Wreaths Across America, a nonprofit organization that is traveling from Maine to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC, to deliver 55,000 wreaths for the graves of deceased veterans, will be coming through Totowa. After a ceremony at Passaic County Technical Institute Tuesday evening, a convoy of approximately 50 trucks will travel south on Union Boulevard from the Paterson border to Route 46 at approximately 8 pm with a police escort. So please be advised of this event if you are driving on Union Boulevard Tuesday night as you will be delayed. Of course, residents are welcome to watch and greet the convoy along the route. Last year, we had an impressive crowd turn out.
Second, we have been informed by Passaic County that Riverview Drive from Lackawanna Ave to the Hillery Street Bridge will be closed to through traffic for four days beginning Monday, December 12 to allow for the replacement of guard rails and slope stabilization. Please be advised that only local traffic will be permitted.
In closing, I’d like to wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season.
