Council President Phil Puglise
Philip Puglise has been a resident of Totowa since 1973 and resides at 99 Sutton Avenue in the Borough of Totowa along with his wife Cheryl. They have two children, Kristin and Craig, who also reside in Totowa.
Phil graduated from Paterson Technical and Vocational High School and attended Essex County College. He was a member of the National Guard from 1966 to 1972. Since 1975, he has been the owner and operator of Phil Puglise Inc. General Contracting. In addition to being a successful Builder and Developer, he has exhibited a keen interest in the Borough of Totowa and its children.
He was a member of the Totowa Borough Planning Board from 1987 until he was appointed to the Council of the Borough of Totowa on January 1, 1989. Phil is the Council President, Chairman of the Public Works Committee and serves on the Committee for Engineering and Public Property. In addition, he, along with Mayor John Coiro served as Co-Chairmen of the 100 Year Parade Committee, which was a tremendous success. Phil is an active member of the Totowa Borough Republican Club. Phil planned the reconstruction of the parks within the Borough of Totowa. He is involved in the Union Boulevard Beautification Project and is overseeing the installation of new Bus Shelters throughout the community. Phil supervises the Borough’s annual Road Improvement Program and Road Reconstruction Projects which are funded with State grants. He is a member of N.J. Business & Industry Association and Carpenters Local #124, Passaic County Police Chief’s Association and also holds building inspection, sub-code and construction official licenses.
